Colleen Grove

Colleen Grove grew up around the Edmonton, Alberta area (Fort Saskatchewan and Gibbons). She currently lives on an acreage near Stony Plain, Alberta with her husband and two young children. She has degrees in psychology and education and writing a children's book has always been a dream of hers.

Colleen has always worked with children throughout her career and was always good at writing when she was younger, she just had to find the right inspiration for a book. When her son turned one, she did a monkey themed birthday party for him because of his love for his stuffed monkey. She made some monkey cookies that turned into a Pinterest fail, but gave her the idea for a book about a funky monkey. It took a couple years of sitting with that idea and a couple suggestions from her mom, but then the idea about Malcolm and the FunKey Monkey developed. Once she had the idea to use a magic key to go on adventures, the story came to life. She's looking forward to making this book into a series and writing more stories.
