Dan Ohler

It’s been an interesting, school-of-hard-knocks journey for me.  From a high-stress farmer (family farm), to high-stress Loans Officer (agricultural lending), to high-stress Land Agent (oilfield), to high-stress professional speaking (cross-Canada conference keynotes), and much of that in a high-stress marriage.

Looking deeper than high-stress, the challenge was my ability (or inability) to develop effective relationships – with myself and others.  So I worked at it.  I became vulnerable and honest with myself and others, and became very curious.

Every experience, has led me precisely to this joyful, passionate, rewarding, and fulfilling place I’m at now, where my relationships are solid, trusting, and genuine.  The quality of my relationships continue to grow.

I occasionally allow myself to slip into a stressful spot, but through self-coaching, and hiring my own coaches, I re-align, prioritize, build trust, and expand my potential in an accountable way.

Thinkin' Outside the Barn! : And Steppin' into Fresh B.S.

This is really well done. A proper balance of teaching and comedy done through farm stories.
Cover
I don’t mind the cover. It’s simple and to the point. The title is really clever with the farm word play.
Interior
Going into the first chapter you get a real feel of what this book is going to be like and it follows the same pattern for every chapter. It gives you the answer, before guiding you into the reason and then brings up the questions challenging your own life.
I know through this book I don’t always say “Yes” or “No” to his questions. This book wants you to be brutally honest with yourself. It’s the first step to being a better version of yourself. With that being said it meaning I’m not yet perfected in they guidance this book offers. It’s a real challenge being honest with yourself.
What I love about this book are the stories. You get a good feeling about what Dan Ohler is like, and I think I learnt more about him through this book on top of the times I’ve met him. He’s a good genuine guy.
And this book is honest with what he’s like to. He’s unafraid to admit he’s imperfect and some of these stories about hardships in his life are really heartbreaking to read but all lead to moral and attitude adjustment advice.
